League Rules
- Official High School Rules with modifications as noted ,
will be used.
- Length of games
• two 27 min halves, straight time ( stop time for foul shots)
• Exception - last two minutes of second half = STOP TIME, clock
stop for all foul shots
• 3 minute half time
Note: Game clock will begin running promptly at scheduled
start time(7:05 &
8:25 pm); including games where teams have less than 5 players
- 30 Second Shot Clock:
• will be in effect during the LAST 5 MINUTES of the game
• the 30 second shot clock starts when the ball enters the front court
•
a “shot” is a try that has HIT the RIM
• referee shouts audibly to indicate 20 sec. 10 sec. and 5 sec times
- Time Outs:
• teams may use 2 (30 sec) time-outs per team per game
• time outs may be used at any time
- Over Time:
• if the score is tied at the end of regulation time a (TWO Minute STOP
TIME PERIOD )will be played
• the over time period will start with a jump ball
• each team will receive ONE EXTRA TIME OUT (none carried over from regulation
time)
• if the score remains tied after the overtime period each team will receive
2 points
for a win
- A player fouls out on her 6th foul.
- Technical fouls count as personal fouls. 2
technical fouls = disqualification
- A ONE AND A BONUS FOUL will be shot on the 7th,8th and
9th team fouls.
- A two shot double bonus will be shot on the 10th succeeding
team fouls.
- All technical and intentional fouls are two shots; no
players in lane spaces , plus
possession of the ball is retained.
- All fouls at /under the one minute mark in the second
half or during an overtime period
are two shots.
- Players in foul lane spaces during a foul shot may move
when the shooter releases the ball.
The shooter and players outside the lanes spaces must wait until
the ball hits the rim or backboard.
- Defaults:
• a team with less than 5 players may opt to forfeit immediately
• if a team choose to wait, the clock will be started and unless they have
5 players ready to play after 10 minutes have expired on the game clock, they
will lose by default
• the fifth player may enter the game without the penalty of a technical
foul
• Referees do not officiate defaulted or forfeited games but teams may
use their
allotted game time to play.
- A closely guarded 5 second count in the front court will
be in effect.
- A direct back court throw is allowed : referee does NOT
have to handle the ball in the back court as a result of a violation
- Subs are to report to the scorers table and may enter
the game during any dead ball or at the discretion of the referee
on any change of possession.
- For safety reasons and in accordance with the rules,
no jewellery , rings, bracelets, necklaces, hats,
metal or hard plastic hairpieces are to be worn during games.
- Team Points : Win = 2 points Loss = 1 point
